Marie L. Toohey of Lambertville, New Jersey died on July 10, 2015 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by friends and neighbors who provided much care and comfort during her final months.

Marie was born on November 20, 1940 in Oswego, New York, the daughter of Morris and Josephine Donnabella. She was the first of two children. She and her sister, Lucille, grew up in Oswego. Marie has one son, Christopher, who lives in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Marie worked in advertising in New York City and in New Jersey. Her love of the environment motivated her to become involved in Earth Day New Jersey and she later became head of Earth Day New Jersey Inc. After retiring, Marie moved to Lambertville, New Jersey and started a business painting decorative furniture. Later she worked part-time for several businesses in Lambertville where she became greatly immersed in the community.

She had many interests including her garden, her home and her community. She will always be remembered for her courage, her tremendous humor, her ready laugh and her resilience.

In addition to her son, Marie is also survived by her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins...with all of whom she was very close.

Marie's family will forever be grateful to the friends and neighbors who lovingly looked after her in her final months and who were with her at the end.
