Obituary for Ralph H Wooden



Ralph H. Wooden, 74, of Ewing, NJ, died on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at the Capital Health Hopewell Campus.

Born in Trenton, Ralph was raised in Harbourton, NJ. He lived in Levittown, PA before moving to Ewing 18 years ago. He was a steel worker for US Steel in Fairless Hills, PA for 39 years. He later drove a bus for the South Hunterdon Regional School District from which he retired in 2012 after 10 years. Ralph served with the US Marine Corps from 1958 to 1964 and attained the rank of corporal. He was a lifetime member of the US Marine Corps League. An active member of the Free and Accepted Order of Masons, Ralph was a past master of the Fairless Hills (PA) Masonic Lodge # 776 and a member of the Amwell Lodge # 12 in Lambertville. He was a member of the Princeton Shrine Club (Central NJ Masonic Center), Rocky Hill, NJ and the Trenton Elks # 105. Ralph was also a member of the Crescent Shriners of Westampton NJ and rode with their motorcycle club.

Ralph was devoted to his family. He was the son of the late George and Marion Olmstead Wooden. He is survived by his wife Christine L. Hewitt-Wooden; his children David (Tracey) Wooden of Burlington, NJ, Brenda (Mark) Witzigman of Southampton, PA and Paula (Troy) Frable of Palmerton, PA; his step-son Daren (Jennifer) Hewitt of Pipersville, PA; his grandchildren Amanda (J.D.) Davis and their son Jack of Gilbert, PA; Michael and Marissa Wooden of Burlington, Christopher Witzigman of Southampton, Seth Howell of Palmerton, Samantha and Sydney Matusiak of Burlington, Darian Hewitt of Andreas, PA, Victoria and John Reilly of Pipersville; his sisters Irene (Charles) Burd of Dundee, NY and Lynn (James) Price of Cortez, CO; his brothers James (Betty) Wooden of Deltona, FL, Kenneth (Doris) Wooden of Lakeland, FL, Fred (Sue) Wooden of Canton, Ohio, and Clifford (Nelsie) Wooden of La Follette, TN and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 9:30 am at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530 (vhmfh.com). Interment with military honors will follow at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, Pennsylvania.

There will be calling hours at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 pm and on Thursday morning at 8:30 am prior to funeral services. There will be Masonic Services Wednesday evening at the funeral home at 8:30 pm.
