Obituary for Paul Hess


Paul Hess, 72, of New Hope, PA, died on October 12, 2016, at his home.

Born in Akron, Ohio, Paul was a long time resident of New Hope. He was an advanced art teacher and career counselor in the Basking Ridge (NJ) School System. Earlier he taught in Manville, NJ. Paul was a gifted and dedicated teacher. He used art to engage his students in their studies and to create the basis for future education and career opportunities. He retired in 2000 after 36 years in education. He earned his undergraduate degree at Harding College in Arkansas and his master’s degree in education from Rutgers University. He was a member of the NJEA.

Paul was active in the community. He was a parishioner at St. Philip’s Chapel in New Hope and served as chairman of the church’s Christmas Bazaar in 2012. He was a supporter of FACT Bucks County and the Eagle Volunteer Fire Company.

Paul is survived by his sister and her husband Linda and Clifford Baker of Fairport, NY, his niece and her husband Teresa and John Carel of Beatrice, Nebraska and his nephew and his wife Craig and Theresa Bair of Nebraska ; and an extended circle of close friends and neighbors.

Paul’s memorial service will take place at St. Philip’s Church, 10 Chapel Road, New Hope, PA 18938 at the Sunday services on November 6, 2016 at 10:15 am. Committal services will follow in the church’s memorial garden.
