Charles Richard  Opdyke
Charles Richard Opdyke, 86, of Delaware Township, NJ, died on Friday, April 14, 2017, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Baptistown, NJ, Dick was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County. He was a fork lift operator with C V Hill Refrigeration in Trenton for 40 years before retiring 21 years ago. He was also a lifelong farmer in Delaware Township. Dick was dedicated to his family and to his community. He served with the US Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in England. He was an Elder and Trustee of the Stockton Presbyterian Church, a past president and board member of Rosemont Cemetery and a volunteer with the Stockton Volunteer Fire Company. He volunteered at the Delaware Valley Council of Churches Food Pantry, was a past member of the Delaware Township School Board, a little league coach and an assistant scout master for the Stockton Boys Scout Troop. Dick was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and played Santa whenever called upon to do so.

Dick was the son of the late Charles and Dorothy Opdyke and the brother of the late Stanley and James Opdyke. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Joyce C. Knoster Opdyke; his children and their spouses Kristine (Kenneth) Webb, Stephen C. (Lynn) Opdyke, Richard J. (Mary Jo) Opdyke, Erik L. (Christine) Opdyke, all of Delaware Township, and Karin (Marc) Hicks of West Amwell; his grandchildren and their spouses Christopher (Ann) and Aaron (Michelle) Webb, Lucas (Sarah), Brett (Angela), Daniel (Corinne) and Michael (Heather) Opdyke, Danielle and Kylie Fine, Brody, Tucker and Jeffrey Hicks; his great-grandchildren Caitlin, Nora, Kinsley Rae, Sadie Grace, Stella, Eamon, Declan and Poppy Anne; his sisters Dorothy Lou Dennis of Lambertville, Mary Jane Miller of Upper Black Eddy, PA and Linda Ziemba (Ron) of Milford, NJ; his brothers Harry Opdyke (Mary) of Lambertville, and George (Gail) of Holland Township, NJ, and his many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11 am at the Stockton Presbyterian Church, 22 S. Main Street, Stockton, NJ 08559.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Stockton Presbyterian Church.
