Brian Keith Snell, Sr., 54, of Lambertville, NJ, died surrounded by his family on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Flemington, Brian was a lifelong Lambertville resident. He was a chef and was most recently employed at the Hopewell Campus of Capital Health. Earlier he had served as the executive chef at the Trenton Thunder Stadium and the Sun National Bank Arena in Trenton. Over his lifetime, Brian worked faithfully for City of Lambertville Waste Management, Union Camp/Paper Bag Mill, New Hope, PA, Hunterdon County Corrections and as a mason for Mitchell Ege Construction. A 1981 graduate of South Hunterdon High School, Brian played varsity basketball and varsity football and was part of the championship football team. He also attended classes at Mercer County College and Kean University. Brian was a proud and faithful 40 year member of Lambertville's Union Volunteer Fire Company. Over the years he served in many official positions including Commissioner and lastly, Deputy Chief. As a 14 year old junior company member he rode his bicycle to fire calls. He was honored by the City of Lambertville for his many faithful years of service to the fire department. Brian was devoted to his family and to his community.


Brian grew up in the church and was very active as a child and young man at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Lambertville. Later in life he joined True Servant Church, Hamilton, NJ. His faith in God got him through the toughest challenges with his health and throughout his life.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Snell, his mother, Minnie Snell Williams and stepfather, Elijah Williams. He is survived by his life partner Kim Williams Snell; his children Desiree Snell and Kimberly Snell, both of Trenton, Lakeisha Snell of Philadelphia, PA, Brian K. Snell, Jr. of Ewing, Brandine Thompson of Ewing, Carl Snell, Jr. of Buckingham, PA and Xavier Snell of Lambertville; his grandchildren Malaki, Brayden and Mackenzie; his brother Clifton Snell of Houston, TX and Carl Snell, Sr. of Flemington; his aunt Shelia Bellamy (husband James) of Lambertville; his cousins Alysha Bellamy of Bristol, PA, Dana McLemore of Westampton, NJ and James "JB" Bellamy of Lambertville; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and his extended family of friends, neighbors and fire company members.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 3 pm at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530(vhmfh.com). Fire Company services will take place at 2:45.

Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 1 pm until the start of services.
