Harry Chester Opdyke, 85, of Lambertville, NJ, died on Monday, May 1, 2017 at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown, PA.

Born in Kingwood Township Harry was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County. He was a pump operator for Texas Eastern in West Amwell for 38 years, retiring 24 years ago. As a young man he worked at Maple Hurst Dairy in Lambertville. Harry served in the US Army during the time of the Korean War and was stationed with the occupational forces in Germany. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Harry was the son of the late Charles and Dorothy Opdyke, the father-in-law of the late Lori Opdyke and the brother of the late Charles Richard “Dick” Opdyke, Stanley Opdyke and James Opdyke. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years Mary Robinson Opdyke; his children and their spouses Charles C. and Jill Opdyke of Lambertville, Kenneth L. Opdyke of Lambertville, Harry C. and Maria Opdyke of Delaware Township and Brenda and Russ Oakes of Kingwood Township; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; his sisters Dorothy Lou Dennis of Lambertville, Mary Jane Miller of Upper Black Eddy, PA and Linda Ziemba and her husband Ron of Milford, NJ; his brother George Opdyke and his wife Gail of Holland Township; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Joyce Opdyke of Stockton; Charles and Carmela Godown of West Amwell, Harold and Delores Linblad of West Amwell and Bill and Peggy Robinson of Lambertville and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private.
