Obituary for Elizabeth Robinson "Betty" Nicholson (Dwyer)

Elizabeth Nicholson, 100, of Lambertville, NJ, passed peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the Rolling Hills Care Center in Lebanon, NJ.

Born and raised in Maryland, Betty moved to Lambertville in 1992 from Leesburg, Fl. Earlier residences included Pennington, Ewing and Willingboro, NJ. Following her retirement as a residential supervisor at the New Jersey School for the Deaf, Betty provided home care support services for an elderly woman, younger than herself. She was an accomplished seamstress, and enjoyed a number of crafting activities. Betty’s favorite activity was sitting on her patio greeting passersby and providing biscuits for her numerous and loyal canine friends.


Betty is survived by her family John T. Miller of Boca Raton, Florida; Janice Nemeth and Irene Leonardi from Lambertville, NJ; Barbara and Tom Kelly from Jupiter, FL; Mary Jane Nicholson from Atlanta, GA; three nieces; a nephew; twelve grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, who will miss her enduring presence in their lives. Betty was the wife of the late Woodrow C. Nicholson and step-mother to the late Beth Kates and Paul Nicholson. Known for her stories and wise counsel,Betty was considered a surrogate grandmother by many.

Funeral services will be private.
