Obituary for Russell S Reed Jr.

Russell S. Reed, Jr., of Solebury Township, Pennsylvania, died on Friday, October 13, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Langhorne, PA. He was 89.

Born in Philadelphia, Russell grew up in Germantown. He has been a resident of Solebury for 60 years. He was a line technician for Bell Atlantic and ATT. Starting out as a lineman, he later facilitated the digital updating of Bell Telephone’s systems for Prudential Insurance. He retired 24 years ago after 40 years of service to the ATT group. Russell was a World War 2 veteran of the US Army and served with the occupational forces in Japan. Russell and his life partner Jac Wilson bought their property “Thistle Dew” in Solebury and established a loving home where relatives and friends were always welcome. Russell enjoyed woodworking, gardening and entertaining. He and Jac were proud of the life and home they built together. Avid fishermen, they spent their summers in Wildwood. Russell usually was accompanied by his faithful dog, Triger, as he did whatever had to be done.

Russell was the life partner of the late Jac Wilson, the son of the late Russell S. Reed, Sr. and Ida Shute Reed, the brother of the late Robert Reed and the friend of the late Maryann T. Evans. He is survived by his sister-in-law Ann Reed of Warminster, his cousin Janet, and an inner circle of many dear friends including Clyde Evans and Donna Eller.

Committal services will military honors will he held on Friday, October 27, at 2 pm at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Avenue, Newtown, PA 18940. Those attending should gather at the cemetery office by 1:45pm.
