Obituary for Robert P Kerr

Robert P. Kerr, 90, of Mt. Airy Village, New Jersey, died on Monday, January 15, 2018, at the Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown, NJ.

Born in Trenton, NJ, Bob was a lifelong area resident. He worked for the State of New Jersey as a heavy equipment operator for 32 years before retiring in 1989. As a young man Bob worked on the Maplehurst Dairy Farm in Hopewell Township. Bob was dedicated to his family. Together they enjoyed family gatherings, camping trips and beach time in Seaside Park. Bob was an avid gardener and hunter. Bob’s second home was the West Amwell Volunteer Fire Company. He was a long time company member, served as the company chief for 4 years and devoted many hours and days to the maintenance of the fire house. The company honored him for his many years of dedicated service. Bob was also a member of the Patriotic Sons of America at Valley Forge.

He was the father of the late Earl R. Kerr, son of the late Arnett and Jessie Hartpence Kerr and the brother of the late Jackie Kerr, Dougie Kerr, Edward “Bricky” Kerr, Irma Wicks and Dorothy Wood.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years Julia Holcombe Kerr; his daughter and her husband Linda and Stephen Mobley of Jamison, PA; his grandchildren Ryan Kerr and his wife Robin of Stockton, NJ, Hailee Kerr of Morristown, NJ, Lance Paul and his wife Jill of Stockton, NJ and Stephanie Baratelli and her husband John of Ramona, CA: his great-granddaughter Austin Kerr of Stockton and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11 am at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530 (vhmfh.com).

Calling hours at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:30 am until the start of services.

Memorial donations may be made to the West Amwell Volunteer Fire Company, Mt. Airy Village Road, Lambertville, NJ 08530.
