Condolence: My condolences to your family. I was a student of his from ‘99-‘03. During those years I racked up many dots and a few asterisk in his ledger. He was a great man and role model. I am honored to have had him as a teacher and wish I had the chance to let him know how much of an impact he had in my life. RIP

Condolence: Condolences to his entire family. I was a student of Mr Van Hart's in 1966. I loved his math class. His enthusiasm was contagious! I became a high school math teacher in 1975 in Virginia. Then later I became a mathematics professor. His teaching style was inviting and I enjoyed his class. Rest in Peace Mr. VH!

Condolence: I just heard about Mr. Van Hart’s passing. Without a doubt in my mind and my heart, he was my favorite teacher. He made a big impact in my life, when he was my tutor in my freshman year of Dayton back in 1967. I was in the hospital for a sports injury for a month and he would come to the hospital to tutor me. He always had that huge smile. I am also a teacher, and I know that unconsciously, he played a role in my desire to become a teacher. Blessings to all who loved him, and thank you forever Mr. Van Hart.

Condolence: Dave was a wonderful teacher, colleague and gentleman. I had the pleasure of sharing a room with him teaching computer apps. Loved his stories, his humor and his guidance. May your family take comfort in love and pride he had in his family. Prayers of love and support.

Condolence: Mr. V ... Dave you will be missed! I have known you since about 1954 when I joined Westminster Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth, NJ and you were my Sunday School teach and later we sang together in the church choir. I was a cut up and you had your hands full ... BUT never a cross word did you speak. Being an only child you took me under your wing and taught me many things from boating, to working on a car, to basic finances and stocks. You took me to the enlistment office when I joined the USAF in 1966 and I drove in your car. Also, took my family on a boat ride out the Manasquan Inlet .... but we never made it all the way out that day because of the huge waves. BUT had a great lunch at Jack Bakers Lobster Shanty ... your treat. You were always a giving and never a taking person AND for that I thank you!! You ARE in a better place now and forever AND some day WE will meet again and talk over the "back in the day stuff" RIP Mr. V

Condolence: I will be eternally grateful for the friendship I shared with Dave. He was a mentor, confidante and consummate professional who shared his joie de vivre with me on a daily basis at JDRHS. Although never privileged to be a part of the Dot-Asterisk Review Board (DARB), I did share many hours with Dave during athletic events, Key Club activities and the annual musical. I will miss his smile and warm heart.
