Margaret A. “Peggy” McCarthy, 82, of Lambertville, NJ, died on Friday, July 13, 2018, at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, PA.

Born in Lambertville, Peggy was a lifelong Lambertville resident. She was a 50 year employee at Bayer Aspirin in Trenton, and later Belle Mead, before retiring in 2004. A dedicated member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Lambertville, Peggy volunteered for the CCD program as a hall monitor and baby sitter. She was active with the Lambertville Senior Citizens. Peggy was a woman of generous spirit and good humor and was devoted to her family and friends. She loved shopping, dining out and cheering for the Phillies.

Peggy was the wife of the late John McCarthy, the daughter of the late William M. and Mary E. Duffy Finan, the sister of the late Mary Hoagland, Robert “Squincy” Finan and Thomas “Buddy” Finan and the sister-in-law of the late Jean and Joe Payton, Nan and Dick Callahan, Bob and Mary McCarthy and the aunt and best friend to the late Sally Jo Payton. She is survived by her loving children and their spouses Jacqueline and Mark McFadden of Hamilton Square and Sean and Sandi McCarthy of Yardville; her cherished grandchildren Michaela McFaddden of Bordentown, Niamh McFadden and Ciara McFadden , both of Hamilton Square; her sisters Elizabeth “Betty” Barnett of West Trenton and Alice Yannarella of Lambertville and her sister-in-law Emma Finan of West Trenton; her many nieces and nephews and their families and her beloved dog, Flynn.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, July 18, at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 44 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530. Interment will follow at Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery, Delaware Township, NJ.

Calling hours at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530 (vhmfh.com) on Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 pm and on Wednesday morning from 9 am until departure for church.
