Obituary for Gloria Letitia Monteverde (McCaffrey)

Gloria L. Monteverde, 86, of West Amwell, New Jersey, died on Friday, August 24, 2018, at the Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown, PA.

Born and raised in Lambertville, Gloria was a lifelong area resident. She owned and operated JM Supply in Lambertville, a business established by her late husband, John F. Monteverde. As a young woman she worked at the Lambertville Acme and, prior to her retirement she worked in retail sales in confectionaries in Flemington and New Hope. A graduate of Lambertville High School, Gloria loved to dance and was a gifted artist during her student years. A dedicated mother and grandmother, she enjoyed time with her family, especially day trips with her daughters. A favorite destination for Gloria was Atlantic City.

She was the wife of the late John Francis Montverde, the mother of the late Sharon Leigh Wutke, the daughter of the late John and Mary McCaffrey and the sister of the late Patricia Langston . She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Susan and David Peifly of Solebury, PA; her son-in-law William Bruce Wutke of Troy, PA; her grandsons William James Wutke and his wife Kelly of Sussex, NJ and Kyle J. Wutke of Lambertville, NJ; her brother and his wife Edward and Virginia “Ginger” McCaffrey of Lambertville, her brother-in-law Thomas Langston of Harmony, NJ; her dear friend and companion Joseph “Mel” C. Mullen of Lambertville and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 29, at 10 am at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530 (vhmfh.com). Interment will follow at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Lambertville, NJ.

Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm and on Wednesday morning from 9 am until the start of services.
