Obituary for Caroll H Preece (Higgins)

Caroll Higgins Preece, 73, of Buckingham Township, PA, died on Saturday, October 27, 2018.

Born in Crewe, Virginia, Caroll lost her parents at a very early age and was adopted into the loving home of William and Virginia Higgins of Richmond, VA. She graduated from Highland Springs High School and attended Virginia Commonwealth University. She worked as a teacher at Varina Primary School and and in sales for a local fuel oil company. However Caroll’s great love of her life was her family and her role as a dedicated wife and mother. She was a wonderful cook. Caroll loved travel and enjoyed visiting new places. One of her great thrills was spending 8 months in Perth, Australia and showing her young son, Tristan, then 4 years old, the wonders of “down under”. After Austrailia the family spent an extended period of time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia before returning home to Carversville. Caroll, Malcolm and Tristan traveled through Europe. The American west, California, Wyoming and Arizona, was a favorite destination and their cherished seaside spot was the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Home for Caroll was Bucks County. She took long walks through her town of Carversville and along the banks of the Delaware River. Good food was a passion of hers and she enjoyed the great restaurants and gourmet resources in the Lambertville-New Hope community. An avid reader, Caroll had an extensive and eclectic book collection.
Caroll was a gracious and generous hostess. She made friends easily and was fully supportive of Malcolm on the occasions when his business activities involved social events. Caroll was a member of the Carversville United Church of Christ.

Carol is survived by her husband Malcolm Preece; her children Michael Owen of Richmond, VA, Michelle Owen of Burke, VA and Tristan Preece of Bucks County, PA; and her grandchildren Sean, Lucas and Owen.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 1, at 11 am at the Carversville Christian Church of the United Church of Christ, 3736 Aquetong Road, Carversville, PA 18913. Interment will follow at the Carversville Cemetery.

Visitation will take place at the church on Thursday morning from 10 am until the start of services.
