Mary Honora  Garots (Brophy)
Mary Honora Garots (nee Brophy) of Rosemont, NJ, passed away on Wednesday evening, February 17, 2016, at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township, NJ. She was 85.

Born in Trenton, NJ, Mary lived in Rosemont for 45 years. Earlier she was a resident of West Trenton. Mary was an administrator with Conrail (earlier Pennsylvania Railroad and Penn Central) for 44 years before retiring in 1993. For much of her career she was based in Morrisville, PA. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Lambertville. Mary enjoyed trips to the casino with her late husband, her family and friends. Her other interests included old movies, reading, knitting and eating out. She was proud of her Irish heritage and dreamed of visiting Ireland. She was devoted to her family. Her cat Luna brought great joy to Mary as did her late dog Ginger.

She was the wife of the late Stephen J. Garots, the daughter of the late Edward J. and Ellen Cryan Brophy, and the sister of the late of the late Eileen (Edward) McKeever, Catherine (George) May, Sarah Brophy, Sally Markley and Dennis Brophy. She is survived by her son Richard Garots of Rosemont, her grandson and his wife Brian P. and Sharon Garots of Flemington; her sister-in-law Loretta Brophy of Hamilton and her brother-in-law Robert Markley of Yardville; and several nieces and nephews. On May 9, 2014 Mary was overjoyed by the birth of her first great-grandchild Emily Garots.

The funeral mass will be offered on Wednesday, February 24, at 11 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 44 Bridge Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530. Interment will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.

Calling hours at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530 on Wednesday morning from 9 am until departure for church.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church or to the Cancer Center at Hunterdon Medical Center, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
