Obituary for Anne Elizabeth DiSalvi

Anne Elizabeth DiSalvi, 95, of Lambertville, NJ, died peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2016, at the Buckingham Valley Care Center, Buckingham, PA.

Born on September 26, 1920 in Kearny, NJ, Anne was the daughter of Nick and Marcella Glebus Butkewicz. She moved to Delaware Township in infancy and graduated from Lambertville High School. She went on to receive her degree as a registered nurse from Mercer Hospital School of Nursing and Rutgers University Advanced Studies. Early in her career, Anne worked in the emergency room and the operating room at Mercer Hospital in Trenton. While her husband, Raymond, served overseas in World War II, Anne served as a public health and school nurse for West Amwell and Delaware Townships. While raising her family she worked at the Lambertville Nursing Home and the Hunterdon Medical Center. Anne was the first nurse to ride with the former Lambertville Ambulance Association (the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad) and remained a volunteer there for many years. At age 66, she retired from nursing from the Buckingham Valley Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Anne and her beloved husband Raymond came to live in Lambertville in 1945. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage before Raymond’s passing in 2011.

Anne enjoyed her time at the beach, working in her vegetable and rose gardens and ice skating long into her 70’s. Void of prejudice, angst and anger, she lived to serve her patients, her family and her many lifelong friend and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, her brothers Fred and Vincent Butkewicz, and her sisters Josephine Hvezda and Janet Nolan. Anne is survived by her children and their spouses Carol DiSalvi, Joseph and Judy DiSalvi and Daniel and Sharon DiSalvi; her 11 grandchildren William Fowler, Stephen, Keith and Blaine Stintsman, Stacy Skillman, Michael,Kyle, Caralyn and Joanne DiSalvi, Adam and Brian Fitting; her 4 great-grandchildren Austin and Garett Skillman and Courtney and Jake Stintsman and her great-great- grandson Lucas David Rolon.
