Obituary for Naomi Elkins

Naomi Elkins, 54, of Lambertville, NJ, died on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at the Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown, New Jersey.

Born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Canada, Naomi came to the United States as a young child. She lived in Bordentown before coming to Lambertville 5 years ago. Naomi was a gifted artist and illustrator. She provided the artwork for the children’s book, Zog the Dog by Mary Young. She also worked as a librarian at Rider University. In more recent times she served as an advisor to fellow diabetics as to their treatment options. Naomi earned her bachelor of fine arts at Trenton State College (now the College of New Jersey). An avid country music fan, she was particularly fond of the group Poco, attended many of their concerts and became friends with and attended the wedding of band leader Rusty Young and his wife Mary.

Naomi is the daughter of the late John Howard Elkins, the sister of the late Amadeus Elkins and the step-daughter of the late Francesco Chirico. She is survived by her mother Ursula Chirico; her brother and his wife George and Cynthia Elkins and their sons David, John and George; her sister Tabatha Elkins and her friend and fellow Poco fan Carolyn Chapman.
