Obituary for Clarence Peter Keen

Clarence P. Keen, 84, of Lambertville, NJ, died on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington, NJ.

Born in New Hope, PA, Clarence was a resident of Lambertville since early childhood. With his business partners Albert Trautz and Sid Yannarella, he owned and operated Allen’s Fuel Oil, serving the Lambertville-New Hope area. He retired at age 62. Earlier he worked for Bob Larason Oil, LK Walton Oil and Skillman Oil. Clarence served with the New Jersey National Guard for 8 years reaching the rank of staff sergeant. A sports fan, Clarence rooted for the Eagles and the Phillies. He enjoyed bowling, coached little league baseball and played basketball in high school. He was a member of the Lambertville Elks, the Lambertville Masonic Lodge and the Young Men’s Athletic Club. Clarence was devoted to his family.

He was the son of the late Clarence T. and Mary Jane Isler Keen, the step-father of the late Ken Wilson and the brother of the late Kenneth Keen. He is survived by his wife Margaret “Marge” Esposito Keen; his children and their spouses Connie (Danny) Fisher of Lambertville, Donna G. (Richard) Knechel of Lambertville and James A. (Melissa) Keen of Wasilla, Alaska; his daughter-in-law Martha Wilson of Bartonsville, PA; his grandchildren Brian Fisher of Lambertville, Sharon (Noah) Pinto of Titusville, Danielle Fisher of Lambertville; Abby Lynn Keen, James Keen, Jr., Rhonda Jo Keen, Carson Keen, Jeremiah Christopher Keen all of Wasilla; Kristopher (Tanvi) Knechel of Des Moines, IA, Alex Knechel of Hopewell, Jennifer Wilson of Lambertville, and Eric (Patricia) Wilson of Saylorsburg, PA; his great-grandchildren Eric Wilson, Jr., Erica Wilson and Dallas Wilson of Scranton, PA and Theresa Wilson of Saylorsburg; his sisters Vivian Hackney of Lambertville and Betty Ann Vasey of Kissimmee, FL and his brother, Lemuel Keen of New Hope; and many nieces and nephews and their families. At the time of his passing Clarence was looking forward to the birth of his 5th great-grandchild, due in May 2018.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 15, at 11 am at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530 (vhmfh.com). Interment will follow at Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery, Delaware Township, NJ.
