Obituary for Arthur "Arty" Reed

Arthur ‘Arty’ Peter Reed, age 42, of High Bridge, NJ tragically passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018 after an automobile accident in Hopewell Twp., NJ.
He was born on February 14, 1976 in Flemington, NJ. He resided in High Bridge, NJ for several years moving from Lambertville, NJ. He was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County.
He was the son of Alice L. Harvey Reed of High Bridge, NJ and the late Robert C. Reed Jr. who passed away in January of 2017.
Arty was a Tow Truck Driver, working for Dave’s Sunoco and Towing in Ringoes, NJ. Arty loved driving a tow truck and enjoyed his job.
Arty loved to work on cars. He was well known for painting his car several different colors, including camouflage and zebra print. He enjoyed going to his Uncle’s house and working on cars as well. Arty also enjoyed fishing and he loved getting lottery tickets. He would also enjoy having coffee every morning with his family. He always made his family and friends smile. Arty was also known as ‘Hoopty’ or ‘Hoopty Do’. An 8 year old family friend always referred to Arty as ‘his Batman’ as he always had his favorite Batman hat on.
Survivors in addition to his Mother, Alice L. Reed of High Bridge, NJ, include his girlfriend of 13 years; Lisa Vargas. He is also survived by one daughter; Ashley Reed and her boyfriend Ben Pysher of Wind Gap, PA. One son; Keith Naylor of Lambertville, NJ. Two step-sons; Donald Hoagland of Doylestown, PA and Ryan Hoagland of FL. Five siblings; Tabitha Doughty and her husband Jody of High Bridge, NJ, Samantha ‘Sammy’ Leary of Lambertville, NJ, Robert ‘Bobby’ Reed III and his girlfriend Linda McWilliams of Lambertville, NJ, Freda Reed of High Bridge, NJ and Kenneth Reed and his wife April of Interlachen, FL. Sixteen nieces and nephews; John Tancredi, Cade Doughty, Austin Doughty, Dylan Reed, Lea Wharton, Mark Lery Jr., Patrick Leary, Collin Leary, David Wharton, Hannah Word, Brittney Reed, Robert Reed, Kayla Reed, Zachary Reed, Gregory Reed, Elizabeth Brown and many nieces and nephews in Ohio. One great-nephew; Jonathan Tancredi Jr.
Predeceased in addition to his father by his brother-in-law, Mark Lery who died in the car accident with him. He is also predeceased by his step-brother, Tommy Wiemer.
Calling hours will take place on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 2-4pm at VanHorn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ and on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 7pm to 9pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11am at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment at Lower Valley Cemetery in Califon, NJ.
