Obituary for William Edward Wheeler

William Edward  Wheeler
W. Edward Wheeler, 81, of New Hope, PA, died on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown. His life partner, Terry Meddock, was at his side.

Ed was born in New Castle, Delaware and was raised on a farm in Smyrna, DE. He lived in Philadelphia before moving to New Hope in 1990. He was retired from Temple University where he was the director of the university payroll department. A quiet gentleman, Ed enjoyed spending time with dear friends and family, watching tennis, cocktails at the Raven, and traveling to Atlantic City, Rehoboth Beach and London, England.

He is survived by his devoted partner Terry Meddock, (Terry has since died on April 25, 2018).Terry’s children Shannon Kane-Meddock and her husband Mathieu of Philadelphia and Derek Kane-Meddock and his wife Gillian of Brooklyn, NY, Terry’s grandchildren, Max, Charlotte and Zoe, and several nieces and nephews including Franklin Wheeler and partner Marc of North Wales, PA. Ed was predeceased by his parents Benjamin Franklin Wheeler and Mildred Irene Foraker Wheeler and his brothers Ronnie, Bobby, Charles and Norman.

A memorial gathering in memory of both Ed and Terry will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 2 pm at the Raven Resort, 385 West Bridge Street, New Hope, PA 18938.
