Obituary

James Earl Bellamy, 67, of Lambertville, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2019, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

James was born in Winnabow, NC in January 1952. His family moved to Somerville, NJ when he was a young child. James graduated from Somerville High School and attended classes at Raritan Valley College. James moved to Lambertville, NJ 37 years ago after he met and married the love of his life, Shelia McLemore. For the last 32 years, James was a machinist and group leader at Lehigh Fluid Power in West Amwell, NJ.

An avid reader, James was most interested in history, politics and nature. He enjoyed bird watching and studied their migration patterns. James was also interested in all types of animals and species survival. He researched why some creatures continue to thrive while others have experienced diminished numbers or extinction. James was a mason by trade and worked as such as a young man. He enjoyed studying how things work and how they were designed, as well as watching nature shows and historic documentaries. Most of all he loved his family and treasured the time they spent together.

James is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years Shelia McLemore Bellamy; his children Dana McLemore of Westampton, NJ; Maurice Osborne of Palmyra, NJ; James Bellamy II and his fiancée Sonia Noriega of Raritan Township, NJ and Alysha Bellamy and her fiancée John Corder of Plainsboro, NJ; his granddaughter Atia Osborne of Palmyra, NJ; his father James Henry Bellamy and his wife Rebecca of Wilmington, NC; his sisters Betty Akins of Florida, Mary Tenbroek of Plainsboro, NJ , Bertha Hill and her husband Jack of Adel, GA, Barbara Ann Thomason of Allentown, PA; Joyce Jones and her husband James of Bridgewater, NJ and Phyllis Bellamy of Allentown, PA; his beloved step-brothers and step-sisters; and his many cousins, nieces and nephews. James was the son of the late Willie Mae Richardson Bellamy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial services on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11 am at New Hope Baptist Church, 45 Hampton St., Metuchen, NJ 08840.
