Obituary for Robert Joseph Finan Jr.

Robert J. Finan, Jr., 55, of Lambertville, New Jersey, died on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, New Jersey.

Born in Flemington, Bob grew up in Lambertville and attended South Hunterdon High School. He had recently established Fin’s Lawn and Landscaping Service based in Lambertville. Earlier Bob had worked with the Salvation Army as a maintenance technician and landscaper at Camp Tecumseh in Pittstown, NJ and, more recently, at Camp Allegheny in Ellwood City, PA. During his years with Salvation Army, Bob also served with the disaster response team and in their emergency supply warehouse.

Bob was a man of many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed riding his Harley, especially with his wife, Nancy, along; fishing with his son Rob, drawing and sketching, cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Philadelphia Eagles. Bob had a strong personality, a good sense of humor and was a loyal friend. He took pride in having turned his life around.

He was the son of the late Lucy Margaret “Honey” Fry Finan and Robert J. Finan, Sr.; the nephew of the late William “Butch” Fry, Jr.; and the brother-in-law of the late Wendy Buchanan. He is survived by his wife Nancy Lee Vasey Finan; his children Robert J. Brown of West Amwell, Breanna Bess and Nathaniel “Nate” Bess, both of Lambertville; his granddaughters Kylie and Brayliegh Brown of West Amwell; his sister Heather McConnell of Lambertville; his brother Steve Fry of Ewing, NJ; his aunts Margaret Leach and Kim Fry of Lambertville; his uncles James E. Fry and Robert Fry of Lambertville; his sisters-in-law Terri Marriot and Rene McCormick of Lambertville; his brother-in-law Michael Vasey of Perkasie, PA and his many cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2020, at 2 pm at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530.

There will be calling hours at the funeral home on Sunday, January 5, from 12 noon until the start of services.
