Obituary for Myrna Lorraine Scott

Myrna L. Scott of New Hope, PA, originally from Reedley, CA, died on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Doylestown Hospital, in Doylestown, PA. She was 83.

Born in Fresno, CA and raised in Reedley, Myrna was a graduate of La Verne University in La Verne, California. She started her professional career as an elementary school teacher in California teaching kindergarten through third grade. Family life led to relocation to Princeton, New Jersey where Myrna continued in early education. Inspired by her classroom experiences Myrna returned to school and earned her master’s degree in social work from Rutgers University. She worked for the State of New Jersey Administrative Offices of the Court as an administrator and fiscal monitor, determining that the available state resources were best utilized for their citizen clients’ needs. She later served as a social worker for the State of Connecticut’s Department of Developmental Services advocating for the best possible services and educational opportunities for her clients.

Myrna was an avid reader. She was passionate about education and was continuously researching current medical advances as well as nutritional sciences. She had a wonderful sense of humor. She was easy to talk to, a warm and compassionate friend and an insightful, understanding resource for those close to her.

Myrna was the wife of the late Joseph H. Scott III; the mother of the late Kelly Butterbaugh and Jordan Murdock; and the daughter of the late Leon and Eva May Crowder Wade. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands Karlen and Brian Senseny of Pottstown, PA and Katryn and Christopher Burki of Westport, CT; her daughter-in-law Teresa Murdock of Andover, CT; her seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and her brother and his wife Bennett and Marge Wade of Henderson, NV.

Services will be private.
