Obituary for Virginia Louise Gervasio (Chianese)

Virginia L. Chianese Gervasio, 92, of Lawrence Township, died on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Brookdale Senior Living in Hamilton, NJ.

Born and raised in Trenton, NJ, Virginia grew up in the Chambersburg Section and graduated from Trenton High School. She had been a resident of Lawrence Township for 60 years. She worked as an administrator for the family court in Mercer County for 15 years retiring 30 years ago. Virginia married John M. Gervasio, a gifted baker, who grew up on the same block and was known as "Johnny Black" in the neighborhood. Together they raised a family, traveled and went dancing on Saturday night. The "Jitterbug" was a favorite. Virginia was a great dresser, always fashionable, a trait she passed on to her daughters, Patricia and Barbara. More than anything else, she was devoted to her family.

She was the wife of the late John M. Gervasio; the daughter of the late Pasquale "Pat" and Assunta "Suzy" Chiacchio Chianese , the sister of the late Madeline Barrett and the sister-in-law of the late John "Jack" Barrett. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands Patricia G. and Anthony Venanzi of Hamilton and Barbara and Guy DiDonato of Hamilton; her grandchildren Stephanie Vandegrift, her husband John and their daughter Aria Isabella of North Hanover, NJ; Anthony John Venanzi, his wife Sarah and their children Annamarie, Sofia and Vincent of Hightstown, NJ; Jacqueline DiDonato and Jonathan DiDonato both of Hamilton; her brother Daniel Chianese and his partner Richard McDonough of Lambertville; her many nieces and nephews and their families. At the time of her passing Virginia was looking forward to the arrival of a new great-grandson coming to Stephanie and John.

The entire Gervasio family wishes to thank the staff at Brookdale Senior Care in Hamilton for their care and dedication to Virginia's well being and comfort during this very difficult time.

Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral mass on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Joachim Church, 20 Butler Street, Trenton, NJ 08611.

All attendees must be masked and be respectful of social distancing restrictions.
