Obituary for Esther Lane Johnson

Esther L. Johnson, a lifelong resident of the Lambertville-New Hope area, died on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown, PA. She was 95 years old.

Born in Trenton, Esther lived her entire life in Lambertville before moving to New Hope three years ago. She was a graduate of the Lambertville High School class of 1942. Esther worked for 38 and a half years in the payroll department of the US Property and Fiscal Office in Trenton before retiring as payroll supervisor on January 1, 1991. Earlier she worked for 10 years in the payroll department Diamond Silversmiths, LTD in Lambertville.

Esther was an active lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lambertville. She often raised her voice in praise, singing with the church’s choirs for over 67 years. Esther was also a member of the church’s Women’s Fellowship. A dedicated volunteer, Esther was a member of the Lambertville Historical Society and was always ready to provide support, assistance, or fellowship to senior citizens or those in need.

Esther was the daughter of the late Ella M. and John H. Lane; sister of the late Martha J. Marvin and aunt of the late Robert L. Marvin. She is survived by her niece Eleanor M. Keller of Palm Coast, FL; her nephew and his wife Keith R. and Sheryl Marvin of Palm Coast; her niece-in-law Nancy Marvin of Los Angeles, CA; several great nieces and great nephews and their families and many dear friends.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Lambertville, 31 N. Main Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530.
