Obituary for Beverly Darlene Railsback

Beverly D. Railsback, age 79, of Lambertville, NJ, passed away on October 25, 2021.

Beverly retired in 2006 after working over 30 years for the New Jersey
State Library.

Beverly earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Indiana University and received a Masters Degree in Library Science and a Masters Degree in Art from Rutgers University.

A dedicated member for 51 years of the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Washington Crossing in Titusville, NJ, Beverly served on many church committees and assumed various leadership roles. She was a member of the Ladies Grace group, poetry group, choir, worship committee, airport transportation coordination team and auction committee. She served as the church’s Assistant Treasurer. An excellent baker, Beverly often baked for church events including meals for Home Front youths, the UUCWC auctions and whenever church members gathered. She was well known for her lemon squares, gluten-free macaroons, pies and various cookies.

Beverly was active with the Lambertville Indivisible Group, the Lambertville Annual Garden Show and volunteered at election time to encourage voter turnout. An avid walker, she loved strolling through Lambertville and along the canal where she always paused at a favorite tree. Beverly loved nature. Having grown up on a farm in Indiana, she treasured nature in all its forms, wildlife, flowers, trees, cats and dogs. No orphaned animal was left uncared for. A special favorite was her own “Donald Duck”. A nature enthusiast, she was concerned about the environment and the preservation of our natural resources, land and waterways. Her yard served as a sanctuary for birds and squirrels who she faithfully fed. Beverly was quite a fisherwoman and spent many hours from a boat or along a riverbank fishing with a special longtime friend.

A fearless traveler, Beverly traveled all over the world by herself and was always ready for her next adventure.

Beverly fought courageously for 5 years with ovarian cancer. She was vigilant and brave undergoing various forms of treatment offered to her.

Beverly is survived by her brother Paul W. (Jeanette) Railsback, sister Shirley S. Cheek, nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends, especially friends from UUCWC.
