Obituary for Marie D. Marra

Marie D. Marra of Lambertville, NJ, formerly of Bloomfield and West Orange, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Garden at Pine Run Community in Doylestown, PA. She was 97 years old.

Born in and raised in Newark, NJ, Marie grew up in a large and loving family with one brother and 7 sisters. She moved to Bloomfield when she married her husband Ed. They later lived in West Orange and Ewing. Following Ed’s passing Marie moved to Lambertville in 1995. She was an administrative assistant for General Motors for over 45 years working in Bloomfield, Englewood and Bensalem. In Lambertville Marie joined her son and his wife, Ed and Lynn Marra, at their restaurant Bell’s Tavern where she served as hostess for over 20 years. She was a gracious presence, greeting many diners by name and showing guests to their tables. Marie was rarely idle. She was an artist, was a gifted needle point crafter and a colorist. She was a member of Lambertville’s Kalmia Club. Marie was a stylish dresser and always strove to look her best. She loved Halloween in Lambertville.

Marie was devoted to her family. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Marra and the daughter of the late John and Celeste Megaro Dell’Olmo. She is survived by her sons Edward A. Marra and his wife Lynn of Stockton; and Joseph J. Marra of Cottondale, GA; her granddaughters Arianna Anderberg and her husband Jackson of Lilburn, GA and Jacquelynn Marra of Foley, AL; her great-grandchildren Ari and Laila Anderberg; her many nieces and nephews and their families and her many friends.

There will be calling hours on Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 2 to 5 pm at the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, 21 York Street, Lambertville, NJ 08530 (vhmfh.com).

Committal services will take place on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 12:30 pm at the Chapel of Remembrance Mausoleum, Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave, Union, New Jersey 07083. Attendees should gather at the cemetery office at 12:15 pm.
