Obituary for Irma Kathryn Parsons (White)

Irma Kathryn White Parsons of Hopewell, NJ, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, June 6, 2022 at her home. She was 92 years young!

Born in Buda, Illinois, Irma came to live in Lambertville as a teenager. She completed her college studies at night while raising her family and co-managing Les Parsons Music Center in Lambertville. She earned her BA in library science from Trenton State College and retired after 25 years of being the school librarian for Lambertville Public School.

Irma and Les were married for 62 years and always shared their love of music and life with each other, their children and their community. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Linvale and the church organist for 20 years. Irma was one of the start-up members of VIP, East Amwell’s community newsletter and served on the East Amwell Bicentennial Committee. Irma loved to read, was a dedicated New York Yankees fan, enjoyed all kinds of music especially Frank Sinatra and never missed watching the Triple Crown races. She was a gifted artist working in watercolors.

Irma regularly volunteered to assist at her children’s activities in school, 4-H, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She was a true family matriarch and loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren whenever possible. A loyal and generous friend, Irma was a good listener and always offered sound advice.

Irma was predeceased by her husband Leslie Parsons, her father and mother Calvin and Dorothy (Crist) White, her brothers Lewis and Richard White and her son Timothy Lawrence Parsons. She is survived by her children Suzanne Parsons of Hopewell, Richard Parsons (Patricia) of Hopewell, Russell Parsons (Joyce) of Lambertville, Pepper Anderson (Tom) of Ferndale, PA and Jennifer Tomei (Kenneth) of Chesterfield, NJ; her grandchildren Jacqueline, Derek, Melissa, Timothy, Richard, Christopher, Alicia, Erica, Leslie, Elizabeth, Brandon, Lydia and Lauren; and her great-grandchildren Mitchell, Mia, Emberlyn and Hunter.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 13, at 12;15 pm at the Old Rocks Church of West Amwell, 260 Mount Airy-Harbourton Road, Lambertville, NJ 08530. Interment private.

Calling hours at the church on Monday morning from 10 am until 12 noon.
