Obituary for Traute Inge "Trudy" Ringwald (Fehlau)

Traute Inge Ringwald of West Amwell, NJ, died on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was 86 years old.

Known to all as “Trudy”, she was born in East Prussia. Her childhood was greatly impacted by World War 2 and as a young girl she spent 5 years in a refugee camp in Denmark. These early experiences made her a strong and determined woman. Trudy came to the United States in 1960 where she sought advancement and opportunity. She settled in New York City and later on Long Island. A savvy businesswoman, Trudy became a real estate developer and earned her license as a realtor. After coming to the Delaware Valley, she lived in Yardley and Titusville. Trudy established a health food and dietary supplement business, Black Forest Acres, with stores in Hamilton and East Windsor. A devoted student of nutrition, she was a vocal advocate for a healthy, nature based diet. A dedicated herbalist, Trudy generously shared her knowledge with those who sought to enhance their personal health through natural nutrition. An avid reader, she continually updated her knowledge on healthy living.

Trudy was also deeply spiritual. An ordained minister, she served at the Church of Illumination in Quakertown, PA. She celebrated the strong connection between a healthy life and a healthy faith life. She was an animal lover. Her many pets included horses, dogs and cats and she always made certain that the birds, squirrels, racoons and even the buzzards in her yard were fed and cared for.

Trudy was the wife of the late Wilhelm Ringwald, the daughter of the late Arthur and Meta Puknaut Fehlau and the sister of the late Heinz Fehlau. She is survived by her husband Leonard H. Willey; her daughter and son-in-law Karin Ringwald and James Ragazzo of Lawrenceville, NJ; her grandchildren Christina Ragazzo of Lawrenceville, Joseph Ragazzo of Pawley’s Island, SC and Kimberly Snyder of West Deptford, NJ; her brother Hartmut of Frankfurt, Germany and an extended family including the many people she touched with her nutritional and spiritual outreach.

Funeral services will be private.

Donations in Trudy’s memory may be made to Beverly Hall/Church of the Illumination, 5966 Clymer Road, Quakertown, PA 18951.

Arrangements by the Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, Lambertville, NJ 08530 (vhmfh.com).
