The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Herbert Raymond can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

We pooled our money with a few other colleagues and rented this house on the Danish island of Romo one summer. We were working within commuting distance so figured why not. Here we improvised a barbecue from some found objects on the patio and grilled some steaks.

One Sunday Dwight and I visited the "marl caves of Kanne" along the Albert Canal in Belgium. This was an underground Roman-era limestone quarry which would later be converted to a cold-war era bunker used by NATO. It would open up to the public around Christmastime and vendors would set up stands inside. Of course we found a wine vendor. These ladies were happy to serve a couple gringos "whining for wine" (as Dwight would say).

Dwight and I were walking past this restaurant in the Northeastern part of Greece one day and saw the owner outside slapping an octopus against a rock. Dwight stopped and said "why are you beating up that poor octopus?". The owner told us that he was making it tender. Dwight turned to me and said "we're coming here for dinner tonight". So we returned later with the NAMSA guys (Paul Kontrimas, Heinz Hillman and john Bulman) and ate the octopus (as well as a bunch of other stuff). The owner and his wife sat at the table with us and sang us Greek country songs throughout the meal. It was great.
