Obituary for Ronald Thomas Hazzard

Ronald Thomas Hazzard
Ronald T. Hazzard, 80, of Solebury, PA, died at his home on Tuesday, June, 6, 2017.

Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Ron and his beloved wife Heinke moved to the New Hope-Solebury area in 1976. Ron and Heinke owned and operated the Ferry Hill antique and gift shop in New Hope since 1976. Ron not only took great pride in the business he and his wife built together, but also in the connections he made with everyone who visited the store. The store was a reflection of many of the things that Ron loved: history, fine art, and music of the 30s and 40s.

Before starting the shop in New Hope, Ron worked as a senior stock transfer agent for Texaco in Manhattan. He earned his degree in business from Fairleigh Dickinson University and before that served in the US Army as a sharpshooter, stationed in the Korean DMZ. Ron loved to travel, and loved London in particular, making trips every year with his wife and son. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to many. He will be missed in our hearts forever.

Funeral services with military honors will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 1 pm at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Avenue, Newtown, PA 18940. Those attending services should gather that day at the cemetery office at 12:45 pm.

Donations in Ron’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517 (support.woundedwarriorproject.org).
