Grace B. Wicker, 83, of Lambertville, New Jersey, died on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.
Born in Monticello, Florida, Grace came to Lambertville as a young girl. She graduated from Lambertville High School. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Lagoon Care Center in Lambertville. She also worked as an assistant at Hobensack and Keller Antiques in New Hope. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was honored as New Hope and Lambertville’s Mother of the Year. As a home health aide and domestic caretaker, her kind and caring nature went hand in hand with her nursing skills. Grace was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Lambertville and the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved the music of Motown, cooking and tending to her garden.
She was the wife of the late Willie Joe Wicker, the mother of the late Paulette Wicker and the daughter of the late Edgar Williams, Jr. and Nina Voight Williams. Grace is survived by her children Jarrett Wicker of New Hope, Lillie Wicker-Williams of Hamilton, Patricia Wicker of Lambertville and Joanne Wicker Dodson of Hamilton; her grandchildren Devin Lamar Wicker of New York City, Acira Jackee Solomon of Mt. Laurel, Amber Nicole Willams of Hamilton and Alexis Grace Williams of Decatur, GA; her great-grandchildren Kaia Elizabeth Wicker, Alissa Leilani Wicker and Zoe Ames Wicker; her brother Robert Lawson; her niece Michele Gaymon and her nephew Robert Lawson and a host of relative and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church of Lambertville, 50 Rocktown-Lambertville Road, Lambertville, NJ. Interment to follow at Holcombe-Riverview Cemetery, Delaware Township, NJ.
