Mr. Hess was my favorite teacher and a real influence on me. Although I didn’t go to art school, I internalized his art lessons into other aspects of my life — especially the lesson that nothing is ever ruined as long as you keep working on it and letting it evolve. I’ve returned to writing and art many years later, and would never have been able to do this without Mr. Hess’ initial guidance and instruction. I’ll always remember him.
