Pamela, more so than anyone I've ever known, knew how to live a life well lived. She lived a life that matters. She in her wisdom and wit knew--that what will matter is not what you've got but what you gave' that what will matter is not your success but your significance; that what will matter is not what you learned but what you taught; that what will matter is not how many you know but how many will feel a lasting loss when you are gone. Her example is a precious gift she gave me, her example is one to which I can only aspire. In the genius of Dr. Seuss I find some solace at the lasting loss I feel for my dear friend and our friendship---"Don't cry because it is over. Smile because it happened.' Dear Pamela, I can't help but smile when I think of you.
